It
is very rare that one comes across a frank
actress; Jyoti Makkar is one such young
and peppy actress to chat with. Chand from
Star One's Betiyaan Apni Ya Paraya Dhan
has her track increasing now. Once a prop
amongst other sisters and a foil for Krishna;
Chand has now carved a niche for herself
in the huge clan. Here's a tête-à-tête
with Jyoti to find her opinion on her daily
soap.
The story features a speculative love triangle
as Chand has her heart set on Parth aka
Gautam Rode. However she is forced into
a marriage of compromise with Waqar Sheikh.
During the trial of her brother Nirvaan
she has had some really strong scenes to
enact.
But Jyoti believes the track is going a
little slow. When asked whose character
she would like to essay if not hers, she
says frankly, "I think all of them
are just in their casting, sometimes I feel
I should play Veera…Savyli is a very good
character….for a change I want to play the
blind Koyel."
But she soon gets back to reality, "My
character Chand is a good, sacrificing,
ideal daughter. I was earlier in the shadow
of Krishna and but now I have an identity
of my own. I can do things for my family.
So right now I like my role the most!"
What drove her to become a TV actress? "What
I like about this medium is that whenever
you switch on the TV, you are there. I actually
prefer daily soaps over films. In theatres
people come to watch you; but in a soap,
irrespective of whether they like it or
not, you are there! So you have to check
me out." Quite a self-assertive closure!
