Many
of us are often overtly obsessed with a habit. It could be an obsession with cleanliness,
constant checking of a thing for fear of losing it or obsession with shopping.
Medically termed obsessive compulsion disorder, it is a psychiatric anxiety. Tellychakkar
spoke to some TV celebs to find out if they had any such tendencies.
Kanchi
Kaul: I'm obsessed about two things - my laptop and cleanliness. If I'm
not shooting for the day then I can hook on to my notebook for the entire day.
Cleanliness is another thing which I'm particular about. Although, I don't clean
myself I make sure that the house is kept clean. I'm fortunate as the need to
pick up the broom myself hasn't arised as yet.
Prachi
Desai: I don't suffer from OCD per se but I'm always obsessed about work.
When I started working, I was a bit nervous when facing the camera. To ease this
use, I used to spend hours reciting my dialogues. I used to even recite them during
my sleep. This often worried my parents. However, with time this has stopped. One
compulsive disorder (if you can call it one) that I have is to feast on chocolates
and ice creams. I can't live without having them even for a day. My bag is always
full of chocolates. This morning, I had an ice-cream for breakfast.
Divyanka
Tripathy: I've never suffered from OCD but being a psychology student,
I was always fascinated by this subject. I've studied it in detail. I've come
across such persons and one of them happened to be my relative. He was obsessed
with cleanliness. He would wash vegetables numerous times.
Sharad
Jagtiani: Since I live alone in Mumbai, and whenever I step outside the house,
I'm always worried about the safety issues. Before leaving the house, I check
thoroughly whether the geyser is not left on, the gas cylinder isn't on and all
the electrical switches are off. There have been times when I've stepped out of
the house only to return to check whether all gadgets are switched off.
